"And it shall come to pass..."  difficulties will come, but they are temporary.

And yes, that is Joey Porter (formerly of the 6-Time SuperBowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers!) with Paul.

Mendy Reese is Crews' Homes Program Director and Social Worker.
She graduated in 1998 from the University of Nevada, Reno- earning her BS in Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice.
We were all thrilled when she earned her Masters in Social Work from CSU Bakersfield in 2009.

She was on the national honor society, a member of the Psychology club and worked as a research assistant on three different projects:
   • P.A.T.H. Program- with developmentally challenged individuals
   • S.T.E.P. Program- with socially challenged individuals
   • Autistic Program- with children ages 5-18.

Before coming to Crews Home in 2004, Mendy spent 4 years at Willow Springs Residential Treatment Center where she worked with children ages 5-18 with personality disorders. Mendy ran groups, supervised the ROPES course and worked with clients on an individual basis. Mendy also interned at Bakersfield’s Mercy Hospital in the Social Work Department

Mendy Lou enjoys swimming, hanging out with her dogs, your dogs, anyone’s dogs and reading (especially to dogs).

"Why I do it? I come to work every day for the child who wants something better for her life. It’s rewarding to watch them complete their goals, graduate from school, learn new skills and become productive adults."  Mendy has been with us for 7 years doing her rewarding and positive love of the girls.

Wenndy graduated from Foothill High in 2002 and then enrolled at The Bryman School of Phoenix for the massage therapy program where she graduated with an Associates of Science degree in March 2004.  She concluded that a massage therapy career was not in her future and decided to pursue a degree in the criminal justice field. She plans on graduating from University of Phoenix with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration in May 2011.

Wenndy volunteered with AZA United for 1 year working with children with autism, both working with high functioning autistic children and non-verbal autistic children. Worked for Marc Center, group home environment for severely mentally ill (SMI) adults where she taught them everyday living skills such as cooking and cleaning.  She also helped them to become more independent so they would eventually be able to live in the community on their own. She eventually worked for Maricopa County Juvenile Probation Department from 2006-2010 as a Juvenile Detention Officer. She ran an independent living group, was an acting supervisor, and a fingerprint administrator.

Luckily, she stumbled across the job of working with kids and ended up loving it. Wenndy summed up her life’s philosophy, “I want to be a positive person in young peoples lives and teach them their life is in their control and so is their future. I had so many positive adults in my life from my parents to teachers and coaches, and now I feel as if I can be that role model to young people, even if I only make a difference in one child's life through my whole career that one child I did make a difference for will make my career worth having.”

In her spare time, Wenndy enjoys golf, well, any kind of sport really. She also loves reading, music and spending time with her family.
