I do it? I come to work every day for the child who wants something better for her life. It’s rewarding to watch them

Wenndy graduated
from Foothill High in 2002 and then enrolled at The Bryman School of Phoenix for the massage therapy program where she graduated
with an Associates of Science degree in March 2004. She concluded that a massage therapy career was not
in her future and decided to pursue a degree in the criminal justice field. She plans on graduating from University of Phoenix
with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration in May 2011. Wenndy volunteered with AZA United for 1 year
working with children with autism, both working with high functioning autistic children and non-verbal autistic children.
Worked for Marc Center, group home environment for severely mentally ill (SMI) adults where she taught them everyday living
skills such as cooking and cleaning. She also helped them to become more independent so they would eventually
be able to live in the community on their own. She eventually worked for Maricopa County Juvenile Probation Department from
2006-2010 as a Juvenile Detention Officer. She ran an independent living group, was an acting supervisor, and a fingerprint
administrator. Luckily, she stumbled across the job of working with kids and ended up loving it. Wenndy summed
up her life’s philosophy, “I want to be a positive person in young peoples lives and teach them their life is
in their control and so is their future. I had so many positive adults in my life from my parents to teachers and coaches,
and now I feel as if I can be that role model to young people, even if I only make a difference in one child's life through
my whole career that one child I did make a difference for will make my career worth having.” In her spare time, Wenndy
enjoys golf, well, any kind of sport really. She also loves reading, music and spending time with her family.
